Editorial: The Constitutional Era

We have entered an important historical phase --"the constitutional phase," whereby we left the transitional era behind and moved on to one based on sectarian quotas. We moved to a wider space in which we can establish a national system responsible for development. After a long period of suffering from sectarianism, we look forward with hope that the best form of democracy will emerge. We need more democracy and less (governance based on) a sectarian quota because the transition to the constitutional phase needs to have results. In this cabinet, the sectarian quota is greater than in parliament because the national assembly is freely elected by the people. The cabinet, however, was formed based on demands from parliament's political slates. While we congratulate our people for the transition, we remind the parties to put into effect laws that can address the future by reducing the sectarian quota and expanding democracy.
