Maliki to Present His Cabinet to Parliament

Al-Mashriq is published daily by Al-Mashriq Institution for Media and Cultural Investments.

First deputy parliament speaker Sheikh Khalid al-Atiya said that (Iraqi prime minister Noori) al-Maliki will present his cabinet to parliament for approval. Maliki pledged on April 25 to form his cabinet within 15 days but faced many problems over which slate would hold the ministries of defence and interior. Atiya did not mention if Maliki would announce his cabinet in full or whether the ministers of interior and defence would be excluded. Maliki's office, in a statement issued Wednesday, said that Maliki would assign those ministries to patriotic, independent figures that have no connections to any party or slate.
