Janine di Giovanni

Janine di Giovanni is director of The Reckoning Project, launched through IWPR, which gathers documentation of war crimes in Ukraine to build cases for international justice mechanisms. A senior fellow at Yale University’s Jackson Institute, she has worked for more than 25 years as a human rights reporter and investigator in conflict zones in the Balkans, Africa and the Middle East. In 2016, she was awarded the Courage in Journalism Award for her distinguished body of work tracking war criminals in Syria and Iraq. Author most recently of The Vanishing, she has made numerous documentaries, is a frequent analyst on major broadcast media, and recipient of a National Magazine Award as well as numerous other awards.
