Special antenatal classes are starting up across Kyrgyzstan as part of a government programme to teach mothers-to-be how to take better care of themselves.

Reporter Timur Toktonaliev interviewed mothers and medical experts and discovered that the scheme is being run to reduce child mortality rates, premature births, and congenital defects and other health problems.



Husbands are also being encouraged to play more of a role in looking after women during pregnancy.
