Appeals Against The Celebici Judgement
Tribunal Update 103 :Last Week in The Hague (23-28 November, 1998)
The Prosecutor has filed two such notices: one in regard to Zejnil Delalic's acquittal due to a lack of evidence on his command responsibility for the Celebici prison-camp and crimes committed there; and the other with regard to the length of Zdravko Mucic's sentence (seven years' imprisonment), which the Prosecutor considers inappropriate for a person who was in command.
A Notice of Appeal has also been filed by Hazim Delic's Defence, who was found guilty on 13 counts (murders, torture, rape, inhumane acts...) and sentenced to 20 year's imprisonment.
According to Rule 108 of the Tribunal's Rules of Procedure and Evidence, the Defence counsel of Esad Landzo has 30 days from the date on which the judgement was pronounced, to file their own planned Notice of Appeal. Landzo was found guilty on 17 counts (killings, torture, causing great suffering or serious injury...) and sentenced to 15 years' imprisonment.
