Minister of municipalities and public works Nesreen Barwari survived an assassination attempt when her convoy was attacked by a roadside bomb in Kirkuk (about 255 kilometres north of Baghdad.) An Iraqi security source said the convoy of the minister (who is married to Iraqi vice president Ghazi al-Yawer) was targeted at Sulaiman Beck neighborhood. It was the third attempt to kill the minister since she first became minister two years ago.
