A third day of anti-Danish protests [over the publication of offensive cartoons] left one dead and two others wounded in the northern province of Faryab, officials said. Provincial officials said the demonstration turned violent after participants tried to attack an office belonging to the Provincial Reconstruction Team, PRT, with sticks and stones. An Afghan interior ministry spokesman said police had arrested nearly 30 demonstrators in Kabul, Parwan, and Laghman provinces over the past two days. He added that those detained had attempted to turn peaceful demonstrations violent.
