Cautious Calm in Jihad District

Jihad neighbourhood residents said Monday that there was a cautious calm in their neighbourhood after the (sectarian shootings) Saturday and Sunday that cost many lives. They said the Scorpion Brigade (Iraqi commando) forces were deployed in the Baghdad neighbourhood and that US military vehicles were patrolling the area. Non-military vehicles have been banned and no people can be seen on the streets. Electricity, water and transportation cuts have forced some families to flee the neighbourhood. Residents were afraid that violence would return after the security forces withdraw.
