As Yoqub Said reports, an increasing number of private colleges are offering course geared towards filling in gaps in pupils’ education. Even university students attend courses here to supplement their knowledge.

Svetlana Abdurahmanova is director of the Perspektiva college, and says many of the pupils who go there arrive with a poor knowledge of core subjects, languages in particular. She blames the low standard of teaching in the schools.
