Damascus Short of Parks

Damascus has very little green space where people can spend their leisure time, the pro-government website Syria Steps said on July 5.



Many of the city’s residents spend the hot summer weekends on small patches of grass wedged between major roads or under bridges.



Syria steps blamed municipal corruption and poor planning for the lack of parkland in the capital, and noted that many people cannot afford holidays or even a weekend break in the countryside.
