India has expressed interest in investing in Syria’s housing, electricity and infrastructure projects, the official Syrian news agency SANA reported on January 17.

India offered its expertise in developing the country’s financial, banking and technology sectors at an international trade fair in New Delhi on January 16.

India is keen to increase its corporate presence in Syria, according to SANA.

Abdullah al-Dardari, the deputy prime minister for economic affairs, met officials on the sidelines of the Delhi fair, and said his country was keen for Indian banks to open so that investors would be encouraged to come in.
