Officials in the northern province of Baghlan say they have collected nearly 700 light and heavy weapons from local militia commanders since the Disarmament of Illegal Armed Groups, DIAG, programme began. Provincial governor Alam Rasikh said 500 light weapons had been collected from commander Jalal in the Khenjan district and more than 100 heavy weapons from Amir Gul Khan in central Baghlan. He noted that no resistance had been encountered in the process, and the disarmament programme was continuing.
