Fifty-five people, including 35 police force applicants, were killed in suicide bombings over the weekend. A suicide bomber wearing an explosives belt blew himself up next to a group of men queuing outside a police recruitment centre in Al-Nisoor Square, in the Al-Qadisiyyah neighbourhood. Meanwhile, in the Al-Swayra neighbourhood, the Iraqi army arrested a senior leader of a cell that attacked security forces.
