Editorial: Beyond the crisis

The deteriorating fuel crisis has not just meant that people have been unable to get hold of petrol, it has also closed down public generators. This is not the first such crisis and it won't be the last. What's new in this one is the failure of the oil ministry to address the problems people have faced. It keeps people in the dark about the real reasons for the crisis and doesn't come up with any ways of solving it. The media reports on the suffering of the population while the ministry remains mute. We know that the terrorists have caused the crisis by targeting the oil pipelines warehouses of Latifiya. They can't undermine the government with car bombs and roadside bombs, so they try to destroy the oil industry infrastructure and power lines to turn the people against the government.
