Editorial: The Results

The election battles will end once the final results are officially ratified. The elections put into practice the most important aspect of democracy: With ballot boxes deciding who will hold power, the possibilities of a coup or hidden conspiracies are erased. Another positive aspect of the elections was that the political parties understood their impact and weight on the people. The negative aspect of the elections was that the (results) were based on ethnicity and racism: We ended up with a big Shia bloc, a Sunni bloc and other small blocs of minorities. The elections did not lay out a parliamentary slate that can independently form a government; coalitions and alliances must be created among the different blocs. This is a positive development and will strike a dialogue among the different parties to create the government.
