Uzbekistan and Egypt will discuss ways of curbing Islamic radicalism and drug trafficking at inter-governmental talks in Cairo in late February. Although technology and education have been highlighted as topics, the main focus will be on how to handle the influence of Islamic groups in both countries, as well as ways of blocking the trafficking of this year’s bumper crop of Afghan opium. President Islam Karimov is expected to travel to Cairo in late March.
