Two anti-government insurgents and an Afghan National Army soldier were killed in the Lowara district of the southeastern province of Paktia on January 14, officials said. According to a statement released by the Afghan Defence Ministry, two soldiers were wounded in the clash, which began with an insurgent attack on army security posts. According to another report, the Afghan army killed two enemy fighters the same day during a clash that erupted in the Charchino district of the southern province of Uruzgan. No army members were hurt in that clash.
