A roadside mine tore through a police vehicle in the southern province of Kandahar late on February 6, killing six policemen and wounding five others, officials said. Provincial security officials blamed the Taleban for the attack. The blast came after two days of bloodshed which left nearly 30 people dead as Afghan and US troops clashed with the Taleban militants in the neighbouring province of Helmand. Meanwhile, another explosion the same day in the northern part of Kandahar province killed two civilians and wounded three others.
