The pro-government website Syrian Days has reported that as many as 200 state employees hold forged educational degrees.

Syria steps reported on June 12 that employees held doctorates and masters degrees from fake universities.

An employee at the ministry of higher education, who was not named, admitted that he accepted bribes of up to one million liras or 200 US dollars to certify false degrees.

Those identified as having forged their qualifications are likely to be dismissed or prosecuted.
