Iran has so far donated one million dollars this year to the Mahdi Army, an armed militia belonging to the Sadir movement in Iraq, a source told Chawder. According the source, Iran spent four million dollars on military and political support for Islamic groups in central and southern Iraq since fall of Saddam, adding that most of the money was spent on training militiamen.
