An Assyrian journalist, Osama Edward Mousa, was arrested in Hasaka in eastern Syria on February 27 after writing an article about the economic crisis facing the country. The article, which focused on the shortage of diesel, petrol and electricity, was published on several websites, according to the Assyrian Democratic Organisation’s media offices.

Meanwhile, Kamal al- Muwel, a member of the national council of the Damascus Declaration for Democratic Change, has not been seen or heard from since the Syrian security service called him in for questioning on February 22. Muwel is a doctor from Zabadani in southwestern Syria, the Damascus Declaration reported on February 22.
