Kazi Calls to Reject Sectarianism

Ashraf Kazi, special representative for the United Nations' secretary-general in Iraq, has called on the Iraqi government, clerics, tribal leaders and political parties to reject sectarianism. He warned that continued violence would displace thousands of families and that they would have to live in fears of kidnappings and killings. Kazi said the United Nations' report to support Iraq revealed that the conflict has badly affected humanitarian situation for children, women and the elderly. The report also stated that honour killings, abductions and random killings were the main concerns of the public. The United Nations also expressed concern about freedom of expression in Kurdistan and human rights violations.
