In the aftermath of events in the last week, will the formation of the new government be of importance? The hot events and riots that overwhelmed Iraq might answer this question. Yes, we need a strong, decisive, and just government based on law. We need a government capable of filling the security vacuum. We need a government that understands the reasons behind what has happened in Iraq and why some try to fish in still water. We need a government that rejects the sectarianism that provokes others and creates supporters for the enemies. Iraq has suffered from bloodshed for three years without knowing why. In time, the situation could possibly improve, (but for now) it is not safe to move from one neighbourhood to another in Baghdad for fear of the unexpected. The best example on this was the attack on the funeral procession of al-Arabia correspondent Atwar Bahjet and her two co-workers 20 kilometres from Baghdad. The first step in overcoming this chaos is to form a government that makes the interests of Iraq its top priority.
