The opposition United Front for a Worthy Future for Kyrgyzstan will hold its second “public congress” in Bishkek on June 2 to discuss whether the authorities have met the demands issued at the first such meeting, held on May 5.

These demands included an end to the persecution of organisers and participants in the April opposition rally, and the resignation of Prime Minister Almazbek Atambaev’s government. If the authorities have not met these demands by May 20, the opposition says it reserves the right to organise further protests across the country.
