Parliamentary commissions to review Karzai edicts

Cheragh is an independent daily run by the Development and Democracy Association.

The heads of the 18 commissions of the Wolesi Jirga or lower house of parliament held their first meeting on February 21. Presided over by the speaker of the Wolesi Jirga, Mohammad Younus Qanuni, the chairmen agreed to discuss legislative decrees issued by the head of state. Qanuni told the commission heads that 100 presidential decrees relating to legislation will be referred to the appropriate commissions for discussion.
