The political council for national work held a meeting on (February 20) that leaders from all of the council's political slates attended. They discussed the recent political developments and affirmed that it was necessary to have unification to serve the interests of all Iraqis. They emphasized the importance of forming a national unity government that includes all blocs that won (parliamentary seats) in the elections. They insisted that (leaders) not draw any "red lines" that leave out certain blocs (in reference to the United Iraqi Alliance's decision to leave former prime minister Ayad Allawi's Iraqi National List out of the government.) They urged the new government to comply with the Iraqi people's ambitions in building security and improving general services.
