Pro-government religious scholar gunned down in Kandahar

Unidentified gunmen shot dead another pro-government scholar, Maulavi Ahmad Shah, a member of the Kandahar Ulema Council on the night of December 13. The deputy head of the Ulema Council said the attack was a terrorist act. But the deputy governor of Kandahar province, Dr Homayoun, said it was a criminal case, and that an investigation had been launched but no arrests made yet.
