Milanka is an experienced journalist and analyst, who has monitored the twists and turns of the Yugoslav crisis.

She began her career at the magazine Review, followed by a stint at the main news agency, Tanjug, from 1988 until 1995.

Later, she joined Beta news agency, and after that became editor of Nasa Borba, until the title was closed by the government in October 1998.

She then joined the Helsinki Committee for Human Rights in Serbia, reporting on human rights issues.

In 2001, Milanka produced analysis for newspapers including Publika, Monitor and Dani magazine.

Milanka has been writing for IWPR since 2000, bringing to our service an unrivalled expertise.

She remains a key member of our team covering events related to both the war crimes process in The Hague, and to attempts to set up war crimes trials in Serbia.

Chris Stephen is IWPR's project manager in The Hague.
