Prosecution of Saddam for Anfal
The chief prosecutor at Iraq's main criminal court, Jafar Al-Musawy, has said the court is prepared for the challenge of trying Saddam and his aides for the Anfal campaign, in an exclusive interview with Kurdistani Nwe.
In the interview, Musawy said that Saddam and the other defendants will face a number charges, including crimes against humanity.
Musawy said nearly 70 witnesses are due to appear in the trial, which will be presided over by head judge Abdullah Al-Amiry and four others - but he said the case would not take as long as the Dujail trial.
Musawy also mentioned that he requested that some of the trial sessions should take place in Iraqi Kurdistan.
Note: No papers were published in Baghdad today because of a curfew.
