The National Organisation for Human Rights in Syria reported that security forces arrested Jwan Shamsaddin Mullah Ibrahim, 32, in Hasiqa province on January 14.

The security forces raided Ibrahim’s home and confiscated his personal items, including his computer, the organisation reported. Ibrahim was imprisoned from 2004 to 2006 for belonging to a banned political group.

In another incident, security forces arrested Izzadin Mohammed Hussein, 30, at Damascus airport on January 12 as he was returning from Germany. Hussein, a German national who has lived there for the past nine years, is Syrian but does not have citizenship. [Some Syrians, such as many of the Kurds, do not have citizenship.]

The organisation also reported that security forces arrested Mohammed Haji Darwish, 47, in Damascus on January 7. Darwish is the ninth member of the National Council of the Damascus Declaration, a group calling for political reform, to be imprisoned since December.

Separately, Ihab Zaid al-Ayisimi, a doctor who is the nephew of exiled opposition activist and former Baath leader Chalabi al-Ayisimi, has been missing since January 9, according to the Syrian Human Rights Observatory. The organisation reported that Ayisimi had left his clinic together with two individuals posing as patients.
