The murders in question are said to have taken place on March 26, 1999, in Suva Reka. The alleged victims, all but one of whom were from the same family, apparently included babies, children, a pregrant woman and a 100-year-old woman.
Their remains were among hundreds of bodies of ethnic Albanians discovered in mass graves across Serbia following the Kosovo conflict.
The alleged Suva Reka massacre was included on the charge sheet against the former Yugoslav president Slobodan Milosevic in his trial before the Hague tribunal, prior to his death in March. Several senior military officials have also been charged by Hague prosecutors in connection with the killings.
