Deputy prime minister Ahmed Chalabi said there are splits between Abu Musab al-Zarqawi's group (al-Qaeda in Iraq) and other Iraqi armed groups that do not target Iraqis. Chalabi said that Iraqis do not support Zarqawi and his group, noting that some armed Iraqi groups are now participating in politics and had dangerous clashes with Zarqawi’s group when al-Qaeda in Iraq tried to sweep Shia families out of Ramadi. Chalabi affirmed that as long as the political process moves forward, people will continue improving it to eliminate terror.
