Film makers in Syria are raising their voice against the lack of support and continuing censorship of their work in a country where production of films remains a state monopoly.

The decline of film-making and the rise of the DVD has also meant the country now has fewer than 20 cinemas.

This multimedia piece was produced during an IWPR workshop for young Syrian journalists held in Damascus, November 2009.
