Syria is about to start exporting domestically-produced cars to the Arab world, reported the official newspaper Al-Thawra. According to a story published on September 21, the Iranian-Syrian joint venture Syamko has started to receive orders for its Sham car from Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Sudan and Ukraine.

Currently, two cars are being tested at the company’s premises in Qatar, the newspaper added.

Syamko produces 30 cars daily at the moment and is expected to increase output to 40 vehicles per day.

The 1600 cc model is being sold for 575,000 Syrian pounds (12,500 US dollars); the 1800 cc for 625,000 Syrian pounds.
