Ten Afghan police officers have been killed in three separate attacks by Taleban insurgents in southern Afghanistan. According to local officials in the province of Helmand, seven were killed as their base came under RPG rocket attacks by suspected Taleban insurgents in the province. The battle lasted for several hours and according to local police also claimed five rebels. Two others were killed in a different attack in the same province while another died in the southern province of Zabul. The fighting comes prior to an expansion of the NATO-led peacekeeping operations to the south over the coming year.
