The ministry of education and the UNESCO regional bureau for education are to set up a new training centre for early childhood development in Syria, the SANA news agency reported on March 26.

Minister of education Ali Saad said the government had allocated 440 million Syrian pounds to establish new kindergartens. He said the training centre needed to be completed as soon as possible to provide kindergartens with teaching and administrative staff.

The agreement was signed by assistant minister of education Suleiman al-Khatib and UNESCO regional education bureau director Abd al-Munem Othman.
