A car bomb went off next to Kirkuk's courthouse on July 23 at noon, killing at least twenty people and injuring 159 others. General Anwar Mohammad Amin, chief of Kirkuk's second military unit, told Awene, "The attack was carried out by a suicide bomber, which killed twenty people and injured more than 159. Some of them were critically wounded." Nearly fifteen cars and ten shops were burnt of damaged because of the explosion.
