Two Explosions Near the Green Zone

Al-Mashriq is published daily by Al-Mashriq Institution for Media and Cultural Investments.

An Iraqi security source announced on February 19 that three civilians were killed and eight wounded when two explosions went off near the Green Zone. One was a car bomb attack and the other (a suicide bomber) with an explosive belt. The source, who asked to remain anonymous, said the car bomb targeted a high-ranking official at the al-Karrada neighbourhood near the hanging bridge. The other attack by the suicide bomber targeted a Magaweer (special forces) police patrol near al-Jumhooriya bridge, injuring four civil servants working in the Green Zone.
