Police have discovered and defused two powerful improvised landmines in the eastern provinces of Kunar and Nangarhar, officials said on February 19. The explosives were found in the Bati Kot district of Nangarhar and Samir Zayee district of Kunar, said provincial officials. Officials in Kunar and Nangarhar said they are trying to prevent terrorist acts. Police said they have launched an operation into the incidents but no arrests have been made yet.
