Two security guards were killed in the northern city of Mazar-e-Sharif on the night of January 31. Provincial police crime branch chief Salahuddin Sultan said the two men were found dead at a market in the Bez-e-Sukhta area of the city. “We don’t know the reason behind the killings, but an investigation is being conducted,” added Sultan. Dr. Ghausuddin Anwari, deputy chief of the public health department, confirmed that the bodies of a two men, one elderly and the other young, had been brought in, but he did not say how they had died.
