The World Bank has approved an additional 30 million US dollar grant to provide basic health services, officials said. Addressing a joint press conference on March 1 in Kabul, Health Minister Sayed Mohammad Amin Fatimi said the grant will be used to help the ministry provide basic health services to more than a million people who are still suffering from lack of healthcare. Eleven provinces are currently benefiting from previous health service programmes financed by the World Bank.
