IWPR’s Zaina Erhaim addressed the first-ever Global Conference for Media Freedom, which ran from July 10 to 11 in London.
It was co-hosted by Jeremy Hunt, the UK foreign secretary, and Canadian minister of foreign affairs Chrystia Freeland, as part of an international campaign to shine a spotlight on media freedom.
Global leaders, journalists, civil society, industry representatives and members of academia gathered to define challenges and frame solutions.
Erhaim spoke on a panel about reporting from within challenging environments, paying tribute to the brave journalists still reporting from within Syria, and addressed the event’s gala dinner, which was attended by Commonwealth foreign ministers.
