The spokesman of the British consulate in Basra said multilateral forces, backed by border patrols in Basra, conducted military exercises for two weeks at the Iraq-Iran border. He said the exercises were conducted in the Shalamja area, and that there will be more training near the Iraqi-Iranian borders in Ammara province. Those exercises will include modern equipment and larger numbers of participants. (British forces are stationed in Basra.)
