Arab countries should no longer adhere to the terms of a 2002 Arab peace initiative with Israel, said Asad Abboud, editor-in-chief of the official newspaper Al-Thawra.

The agreement should be suspended, not left on the table for endless negotiation, he argued.

Sameera al-Masalma, editor-in-chief of the official newspaper Tishreen, defended President Bashar al-Assad’s recent call for an end to the peace plan.

There is a better alternative, she wrote, proposing that Arabs should tell Israeli officials that if they do not respond to new Arab conditions for peace, they will face armed resistance.

Israel should be on notice that Arab countries are ready to sever relations, close their embassies, and embark on an international campaign to prosecute Israeli leaders as war criminals, she added.
