Editorial: The Unity of Iraq

Iraqis once again successfully resolved their differences when they agreed on the final declaration at the Cairo conference. The conference was held in preparation for a national reconciliation conference in Baghdad following next month's elections. The participants showed their commitment to Iraq, its unity and its independence. They all agreed to free Iraq from the current wave of violence and to return Iraq to peace and stability. They all agreed on the right to resist the occupiers and build strong Iraqi forces that will eliminate terrorism and envelope Iraq in peace and security. They rejected viewing Iraq on sectarian bases; they viewed it as one nation of united people despite its ethno-religious groups.
