Media Minister Sacked for “Relaxing Control”
Enebay Ataeva was sacked from her post as minister of culture, television and radio minister by a presidential decree of June 8 citing “serious shortcomings in her work”, after she was repeatedly criticised “for relaxing control over national television”.
This is not for the first time that Ataeva has been summarily dismissed from a senior post. Under former president Sapurmat Niazov’s rule, she was dismissed from the two positions she held as governor of the Ahal region and deputy prime minister “for shortcomings and wrecking the cotton campaign”.
Kakageldy Chariyardurdyev, who is 33, who formerly headed the culture ministry’s department for schools, museums and libraries will replace Ataeva for a six-month probation period.
