Assadullah Khalid, the governor of the southern province of Kandahar, has accused Pakistan of orchestrating the recent bombings in Kandahar which killed 24 and wounded more than 20 others. “There are documents indicating that Pakistan was heavily involved in recent bombings in the country,” he said. The governor’s comments came shortly suicide attacks claimed many civilian lives in the southern province of Kandahar. According to Khalid, Pakistan is sheltering and training anti-government insurgents on its soil. The Pakistani embassy in Kabul noted that similar accusations have been made on several previous occasions by the governors of Afghan provinces bordering on Pakistan.
