Kyrgyz Traders in Kazakstan Complain of Tighter Regulation

The traders, who dominate some of Kazakstan’s markets, say the ID card they get as labour migrants used to give them the right to work, but now they are required to get a permit as well, otherwise they are regarded as mere visitors to the country.



Kyrgyz traders interviewed by reporter Nurlan Abdaliev said that whenever the Kazak police came round to check their papers, they either paid them off or ran away and hid.
