Night letters” [pamphlets] threatening ordinary people have been distributed in the Shigar district of the eastern province of Kunar, officials said on February 12. Provincial security officials said the leaflets had been brought in from neighbouring Pakistan and distributed by a group called Fedayin-e-Islam. The pamphlets described Afghans working for the US government as “slaves” and threatened to kill them. The incident came after eight Afghan National Army members were killed and eight others were wounded in two separate bomb attacks in the province on February 10.
