Several fires this year in Aleppo have cost both the private and public sectors immense amounts of money, the pro-government website Syria Tomorrow reported on November 9.

Syria Tomorrow reported that eight or more fires have occurred this year, killing at least ten people and causing damage estimated at 200 million liras or 4.4 million US dollars. The fires took place at factories, warehouses, showrooms, and a government office that distributes subsidised goods, as well as in forests.

The high incidence of fires should make the government review its safety regulations and force factories to adopt higher standards, the website said.
